Phonics printables that follow the science, not the clip-art

Every pack below is generated from the same 66-level curriculum Snappy teaches with — so the words appear in the order children can actually decode them, not alphabetical order. Print tonight, play in five minutes.

Letter-sound cards

The 44 sounds of English on 59 cards — one card per spelling, in the order children are actually taught them.

What's inside

  • 59 cut-out cards: the 26 letters in SATPIN order, then the digraphs, vowel teams and r-controlled spellings
  • A 'say it like this' line on every card, so you model the pure sound instead of "buh"
  • Three words from the curriculum on each card that really do contain that sound
  • A two-page sound wall to pin up, and a checklist for all 59 sounds

16 pages Ages 3–6 Levels 1–56

CVC word lists

The first 151 real words a child can read, in 21 steps — each step adds exactly one new letter.

What's inside

  • One page per step, in teaching order — never a word with a letter your child hasn't met
  • The new letter, and every letter so far, shown as magnets
  • What three of the words mean, in a sentence you can say out loud
  • A tick box beside every word, and one game to play that evening

41 pages Ages 4–7 Levels 3–23

A sample page from the Blending strips pack See inside (no email) (opens in a new tab)

Blending strips

60 strips for the moment /c/…/a/…/t/ turns into cat — one finger, one breath, one word.

What's inside

  • 42 first-word strips, two from each step of the curriculum, shortest first
  • 12 'two letters, one sound' strips — sh, ch, th and the rest
  • 6 magic-e strips, where the last letter says nothing at all
  • A two-minute explanation of continuous blending, and what to do when a word won't come

14 pages Ages 4–6 Levels 3–48

Print, cut, play

  1. Print

Plain A4, one-sided, any home printer. Colour helps but nothing depends on it — every card reads in black and white.

  2. Cut

Cut lines are printed on the page, well clear of the border every printer leaves. Card stock lasts longer; paper works fine.

  3. Play

Five minutes, once a day. Every page carries one game you can play the same evening, with nothing to prepare.

Questions parents ask

Do I have to give you my email to use these?

No. A real page from inside each pack opens here, full size — exactly what you would be printing, so you can read it all and decide. The PDFs themselves come by email: all 71 pages, at print quality.

What age are these for?

Roughly 3 to 7. The letter-sound cards suit a child who is just starting to notice letters; the CVC word lists and the blending strips are for a child who knows some letter sounds and is learning to push them together into words.

Which pack should I start with?

If your child does not yet know most letter sounds, start with the letter-sound cards. If they know the sounds but cannot yet blend them, start with the blending strips. If they are already reading short words, the CVC word lists give them 151 of them in teaching order.

Do I need a colour printer?

No. Each family of sounds has its own colour, and it is genuinely useful — it is the same colour that sound has in the app — but every letter is printed in dark ink on a pale tile, so the packs stay readable in black and white.

Can I use these in my classroom?

Yes, and you do not need to ask. Print as many copies as you need for your own class. Please do not resell them or host the files elsewhere — send people here instead, so they always get the current version.
