Science-backed phonics that teaches your child to read by speaking out loud. Real-time speech recognition meets kids' favourite toys - MAGNETS!
How it works
Phonics practice has never been simpler — see it, say it, and watch every sound climb. This is what a session with Snappy looks like.
Dr. Snappy sounds out the word, and your child sees it as colorful magnetic tiles — every sound visually distinct.
Tiles light up and snap together as your child sounds out the word. Speech recognition does the listening — even for the youngest voices.
Your Progress tab maps every sound your child owns — how strong each one is, how recently they practised it, and which step of the ladder it's on.
The Speech Ladder
Snappy never asks a three-year-old to nail a sound on day one. Each sound starts where your child already is and climbs: they hear it, find it, echo it, say it, blend it into words, then read it in sentences. Built on the science of reading.
We play the sound; your child listens and gets to know it.
They pick the sound out from other sounds.
They say it right after hearing it.
They say it all on their own.
They read whole words that use it.
They read sentences that use it.
And when a sound wobbles, the ladder catches it a step down and quietly builds it back up — automatically, in the same session. Failing never blocks the game, and silence is never a fail.
Shape, not colour — these are the same six markers you’ll see on your child’s Sound Map.
Your Progress tab
A reading app that tells you “82%” has told you nothing you can act on. Snappy gives you a map of every sound in the curriculum — built from your child’s real voice, updated the moment they speak.
Coaching view sorts every sound into four corners:
Sounds without enough evidence yet rest in a calm shelf below the line. Nothing is hidden, and nothing is graded before it’s fair.

My 5-year-old went from struggling with basic sounds to reading simple sentences in just 3 weeks. The instant feedback keeps her motivated and excited to learn more!
As a teacher, I've tried many phonics apps. Snappy is the first one that actually understands how children speak. The fuzzy matching is brilliant for building confidence.
Both my kids fight over who gets to use Snappy first! The colorful magnets and instant feedback make learning feel like a game. Best investment we've made.

Snappy is designed for children ages 3 to 8 who are learning to read. Our 66-level phonics curriculum starts with individual letter sounds and progresses through blending, consonant digraphs, vowel teams, and advanced decoding patterns. Whether your child is just starting with the alphabet or ready for multi-syllable words, Snappy adapts to their level.
Snappy uses real-time speech recognition to listen to your child say sounds aloud, and words appear as colourful magnetic tiles that light up as each sound is spoken. Every sound climbs a six-rung Speech Ladder — hear it, find it, echo it, say it, blend it into words, read it in sentences — and if a sound wobbles the ladder automatically drops it one rung and rebuilds it, so your child is never stuck. It is multi-sensory systematic synthetic phonics (SSP), built on the science of reading.
Every new family gets a free 7-day trial with full access — no credit card required. Just open the app, allow microphone access, and your child can start practicing immediately. After the trial, Snappy is a simple subscription: monthly or annual (annual saves about 44%), available in 8 currencies, and you can cancel anytime — your child's progress, magnets, and streaks are always saved. Schools get custom per-seat plans; use the Contact Us button above.
Snappy covers a comprehensive phonics curriculum across 66 levels: individual letter sounds (following SATPIN order), consonant blends (bl, cr, st), CVC words, long vowels, silent-e patterns, consonant digraphs (sh, ch, th, wh, ph, ng), vowel teams (oo, ou, ow, oi, oy), diphthongs, r-controlled vowels (ar, er, ir, or, ur), and advanced patterns including three-letter blends, soft c/g, suffixes, and silent letters. That is 782 words in total.
Nothing bad — and nothing that reads as failure. Snappy's Speech Ladder moves that sound down one rung and rebuilds it with more support: Dr. Snappy models it, your child echoes it, and the sound climbs back up. Failing never blocks the game, silence is never scored as wrong, and you can see every sound's step on the Sound Map in your Progress tab.
Open the Progress tab. You'll see how many sounds are in their toolkit, how many words they can read without help, their reading speed over time, and a Sound Map of every sound in the curriculum — how strong it is, how recently they practised it, and which step of the ladder it's on. Coaching view sorts it all into four plain-English corners so you know what to do next.
